This is done because many studios and home video companies want to control how and when DVD titles are exported to other countries. DVD movies released in one region may only play on DVD players manufactured for that same region. As new formats emerge, update your media player software.Many commercially-produced DVD movies contain regional coding to prevent the playback of the disc in a geographical area other than the one in which it was released. Note: Depending on your operating system's built-in functionality, additional software may be required to encode/decode Blu-ray formats. Other versions such as OEM, or for users who have misplaced their original software, may require third-party software for Blu-ray features. Retail versions of these drives include the required software in the box ( DO NOT LOSE). Note: For users with new machines (first time using the LG Optical Disc Drive on this computer), additional software is required for Blu-ray playback/burning. Please uninstall/reinstall the playback/burning software to correct this issue. If experiencing issues related to DVD/Blu-ray playback or burning, your playback software may have been removed or currupted during the update from Windows < 10 to Windows 10. LG Optical Disc Drives have been tested with Windows 10 and continue to be recognized as Plug-and-Play devices (no drivers required).
